It's a good news/bad news kind of day!!!!

While we don't always have 100% control over our day, we truly have 100% control on how we look at the events of each day.  You know - the silver lining thing, the half full/half empty glass???   I'm a pretty positive person, overly optimistic and yet there are days when I want to crawl under the bed and never come out - well that is until I'm forced out by the monsters under the bed!!!

Work has become crazy!!!!    Each day is different - I never know what is going to happen and I love the fact that it is normal to have bolts and bolts of fabric stacked on my desk - waiting to be cut - some for me and some for others.

I successfully got a bunch of paperwork that needed to be prepped (because of deadlines) out the door - well out via e-mail. I'm doing great with the deadlines. The crate is almost packed - yes the binding is done on my modern quilt - fastest binding I ever stitched on, the sleeve is on, I'll print the label tonight and sew it on when we arrive in California. One more sleeve to pin on today and oh yes - don't forget to cut those kits for the daily door prizes and make the pattern.

But I love my job and if I were to win the lottery, I would be completely at a loss.  Would I quit my job????   NO!!!!!!    Where else can you have this much fun at work.

By the way - guess what I'll be doing in a couple of months?????   Check out this link!   We were chatting about it while eating our DELICIOUS buttermilk pancakes prepared by our very own Deborah who is an awesome cook.  Let's just say that I couldn't stop at one.  Anyway - it appears that I have an image??  that I have to live up to - so bring on those extreme sports.  ACK!!!!   All the more reason to get going on that bikejoring.  Got to remember to buy the equipement today.

I don't have a picture of this inspirational quote that appeared on my calendar yesterday, but I LOVE IT.   "The best way to have a good idea is to have LOTS of ideas."   By Linus Pauling.    I just checked Linus out on the internet - OH MY GOD - found another fabulous quote.

Satisfaction of one's curiosity is one of the greatest sources of happiness in life.

Seriously - that is fabulous and so true.  It's the same for anything - you suck at quilting, but by the time you get to the 100th practice - all of a sudden you get better!!!

That happened to me the other day when I was teaching a class on quilting ideas.  I drew out the quilting design (upside down) and someone said - WOW - I wish I could draw like that.   This took be aback.  Seriously????  This chicken scratch???   Then I remembered my manners and said THANK YOU.   And you know what - I worked very hard for that THANK YOU.  It wasn't all that hard, but it required a bit of work!!!!

Gosh - I'm getting wordy here.  But here is another good news thing that happened.  I got a notice from FitBit about my stats for 2015.  You better sit down for this one.

That first number is MY TOTAL steps for 2015.   Yes - that is a LOT of steps.  If you work the numbers, that is 8,967 steps per day on AVERAGE.   Let's not forget that I spent the last five months of the year at a desk job (although I work very hard to get my 10,000 steps in every day) and I don't consider it a 100% desk job. I know this is all relative as I don't the FitBit is 100% accurate, but I think you get the message.

Now here is the bad news.  Look at the average for Canadians.  Do you know what that number is per day??????    3,050   PER DAY.   My average is THREE times as much.  And you ask where my energy comes from????   Energy makes energy!!!!!

And look at these stats:    That first number is the total number of KMS I walked in 2015. Average 6.22 KM per day. The average Canadian is just over 2 KM.

WOW - well I feel pretty pumped about that and that doesn't include my cycling activity which wasn't all that much this year compared to other years.

But if I don't move each and every day - my body starts to seize up.  My muscles become stiff and sore.  I can only be thankful that we have a big warehouse and I need to check out fabric and off to the design studio at the other end of the building on a regular basis.  People like to use the intercom - I like to see them in person!!!!

I have other stuff to post, but running out of time.  But here is the REALLY REALLY BIG GOOD NEWS/BAD NEWS story for the day.

I love to design quilts and now that I'm at Northcott - well I'm learning EQ7 more and more and I see so much I want to make.  Seriously, every day I add one or two quilts to my inspiration board.

So the good news is that I got a confirmation that one of my designs is going to be PUBLISHED IN A MAGAZINE.  I know - I'm pretty excited.  I won't share the details until it is time and you won't believe the quilt.   So that's the good news.  The bad news????  The completed quilt has to be at the publisher's office by March 18!!!!!   And the date today is February 10 and I'm away for 6 days next week.    It's going to be a busy month - again!!!!!

On that note - I have to get these bolts of fabric cut that are on my desk as I'm running out of room to work.

Have an awesome day and don't forget to get up and MOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ciao!!!!
