I've only been to two quilt shops. I make a point to buy something when I visit. I went to one shop and there was not one good value to be had. Not one thing on sale. But I bought something. The other shop had a nice selection of sale fabrics, and I was happy to buy them...beautiful, high quality and 50% off. If I were participating in a zoom class sponsored by a quilt shop, I would ensure that some dollars went that way. It is the right thing to do.

I shop for fabric like I do everything else: I never pay retail. I like to get the best quality I can afford..so sales, sales sales. I don't have any quilt shops close by. And I do not feel compelled to buy local except for the instances I noted above.

It has become endemic to our purchasing habits to "google" best price.. . .
All of us can be unwitting dolts from time time...particularly if we blurt such out on a sponsored call. (Which causes much shoe scraping from having stepped in it...big time)!Leisa♠https://www.blogger.com/profile/10237875938400587600noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5028034539470622344.post-70755391393477322292022-03-27T10:54:23.424-04:002022-03-27T10:54:23.424-04:00I detest online shopping plus all the garbage it c...I detest online shopping plus all the garbage it creates and the fuel burned to deliver it. I order online ONLY when I can't get something here in town.

My favorite LQS has been around for 15+ years and started an online presence maybe 10y ago. Fabric online is $1/y cheaper. Well, through 2021, sales in the store dropped off significantly even though customers in the door remained solid. She finally figured out that customers were determining in-store what they wanted and then going home and ordering online to save that $1. Sadly, she closed the bricks/mortar late August. I can't blame her. She was paying 4 employees daily and some days 7 sales???? Fortunately for me, we have enough friendship that I can come browse the shelves in the basement warehouse. I'm so grateful. She saves the packing/shipping time it takes, we get to visit and we both win.

I hope you have a terrific day and a wonderful retreat this week :-)Ellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06918153566288679035noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5028034539470622344.post-58933573088773755872022-03-27T08:49:38.949-04:002022-03-27T08:49:38.949-04:00I love you, Elaine!
