Coming and going

Whoever said that traveling is fun - well, think again! The prep for travel is insane. I had to pack two suitcases of samples, and that was after I finished making some of them. And there is one jacket that I'd like to take, but do you think I can find it? Nope! I've checked everywhere, except that's a lie since I couldn't find it; I haven't checked the one place it is. Oh well --- I'll talk about it. But where the heck could it be? I swear I had two jackets set aside because I was going to take them apart and make them smaller. But where is that safe place?

The clothes are packed, hotels and a rental car are booked, although I should have done that sooner, but it's done. I may regret that after I see my room tonight. The hotel did not get good reviews for cleanliness. I guess I can always sleep in the car!

Then you have the hassle of getting to the airport with three suitcases! I know, complain, complain. What I'm saying is that travel is not glamorous, despite people's common belief that it is. DH waited in the airport for hours before his delayed plane took off, and the same thing happened last week. Travel is NOT glamorous! Just saying.

But I get to try out my new office backpack and I'm excited about that. There are so many compartments, and it's designed to sit properly on your back, even with the weight of a laptop and an iPad. I think I'll like it much better than my old one.

We had a torrential downpour the other day, and the forest path is sure taking a beating! What changed? We never had that issue when we first moved here. AH - some city person decided to make it better!

The path is very rutted

Our house was like Grand Central Station yesterday. M arrived just before noon to pick up Bear and say goodbye before she flew home, leaving Bear's leash, harness, and poop bags in the hall. That was my fault for not leaving them out when I returned from our walk.

Bear and M

But not before he needed a quick bath, but only in a specific area, as he has some issues doing his business. Grandma got the pleasure of that job, and then he jumped into Lexi's bed. He has no qualms about jumping into bed. Lexi? She gently goes in. Mind you, she's also much larger!

Grandma - I LOVE this bed

Speaking of Lexi - what has happened to her? This is a dog who, several years ago, would NOT venture into the office. Too much stuff? Too closed in? I have no idea, but this morning, I found her tucked away in the back corner of the office. She needed to walk around the table to get in there. Something has spooked her, and this is the least scary of the options.
Mom - I'm hiding - I'm scared!

Oh, back to Grand Central Station. After M and Bear left, it was DH's turn as he prepped for a quick trip. Then he was gone, and it was only me and the girls.

Then DH's two sisters arrived (one from the east and one from the west). We visited for a bit, and then they were off in our car to see their Mom.

And now I'm off today. The girls are beside themselves with worry. What is happening?

Everything will return to normal soon.

As I worked madly on my samples, the cutting table got worse and worse, and it's going to stay that way until next week. I'm doing great on the writing assignments, and that's all that counts.

The cutting table is pretty bad

I had no problem falling asleep, but I woke up a bit early - probably because I had some emails on my mind. I sent those off, so don't look at the time if you got an email from me this morning. I have a feeling, I'm going to sleep like a log on the plane!

On that note, I'm out of here. I need to give the girls a fast walk and then get an Uber. The girls are getting AC today since I have to shut the windows. It's incredible how much the temperature differs when the windows are open versus when they are closed. Shut windows require AC.

Have a super day!!!!

Ciao!!!!

  1. Travel may not be glamorous, but it certainly can be fun. Depends on why you are travelling. Work, with the need to take three is suitcases maybe not, but exploring new parts of the world, maybe so.

  2. Me, I love travel and it's fun. However, I don't pack work with me. My backpack and 1 small carry-on and I'm good for 2 weeks.

    Safe travels, happy teaching!!
