It's mostly about Little Bear!

AHA --- there was a full moon. That's why I couldn't get to sleep the other night! I slept so well last night!

Please don't yell at me for saying this, but I was looking for a concept involving hexagons on a quilt. It's something I had spotted last year. There are many options, some of which are pretty complicated, while others are straightforward. I found what I was looking for - I had seen this in the past and wanted to refresh my memory on how it looked, since our minds often change ideas in our heads.

Anyway, I found the look, and guess what? There's a free pattern. OK - I don't have anything against people writing patterns, but it's so simple that why would anyone want to take the time to write a free pattern? I take the hexagon, turn under all the edges, and then place it on my background and stitch around.

As I said, don't yell at me if you're one of those people who want to write patterns for free, or if you're one of those people who need this kind of pattern. Everyone wants to be the next big designer, but it's really just about stitching hexagons to a background in whatever colors and patterns suit you!

And now back to the regular programming. OH - it can't be regular because we have a guest! And he's so cute!

I took Bear and Murphy together on one walk. OK - that's not a good idea. They walk at very different paces; that's why I don't walk Murphy and Lexi together. But they had fun!

MOM - I love Bear, but please don't bring him on my walk!

And then he was doing his duty by watching people out the window! He's such a character.

GRANDMA: I'm a good guard dog!

And I can hardly yell at him for grabbing a package of crackers from the open cupboard. SOMEONE, who shall remain nameless, left that cupboard open, and Mister decided he wanted what was in there! I could hear something banging around when I was downstairs and came up to find this. How can you tell him he's a bad boy when it wasn't his fault? I will not make a good grandma!!!

GRANDMA: Not my fault someone left the cupboard open!!

I had him tucked in a nice corner, but then I needed that space to work on my digital cutters. So I grabbed this empty box and set him up. He was happy for a bit, and then he was gone! Probably to scout for more crackers!

GRANDMA: I feel like a puppet!

M and her friend stopped by. OH -- I was sending "too many" cute pictures of what Bear was doing at our house, and they had to stop by to say HI!! Any excuse is a good one! Then they were gone, and Bear was back to his shenanigans!!

But enough about Bear, let's see what I did downstairs. Actually, I accomplished a lot, but I'm not ready to share any of it with you! At least not yet. I'd like to be clearing off that cutting table, but that's not happening. I scooted everything to one side and worked on the opposite side! The lighting over that table has died, but when I was cleaning under the table last week, I realized there is a plug there, so I put up a task light.

Just move everything and work on the other side

I pressed and trimmed all these units. I LOVE that towel on the ironing surface!

Pressing the centers of my block

And this part of the quilt is complete. I've put everything back in its bag and placed it in my retreat bag, as the black on white fabrics will be the focus of my enders and leaders for the next retreat.

The centers are trimmed!

YES -- there is another retreat. Good grief! We had the opportunity to test out two new retreat houses, which were not on the original plan, so that makes for three retreats in five weeks, which is crazy!!! But my project bags are packed. Basically, I'm taking everything back that I didn't accomplish at the last retreat. That works for me. None of the projects are urgent, and I can mindlessly sew on what's in the bags.

Projects packed for the next retreat

I accomplished so much, and I'll be using these samples for various events in the future, so that is good! I'm also planning on taking them with me next week, so there's a bit of urgency to get them completed. But I'm doing great! And using up bits that were hanging out on one of those current project tables, so that makes me very happy!

And that's a wrap for today. Loads more work, and I'll just continue to putter along and get whatever I can done. I've got another small quilt loaded on the long arm, and I need to get some machine embroidery and writing done as well.

Have a super day!!!

Caio!!
