GRRRRR --- I still can't figure out how the darn shower works, so I have to lower myself to ask again. I've twisted and turned everything, and NOTHING works. NO instructions on the wall! It will be some silly little thing that I've overlooked, but good lord! Just make a shower with a pull knob that works!
I don't like this room anyway, as it's on the ground floor. It's not my favorite place. I'll ask for a different room next time. I won't worry about it—there are many other things that are worth worrying about.
It was a short trip, and I'll be heading to the airport later today. But this time, I've got a plan. Last time, I almost missed my plane because I had the wrong time in my head. All I can say is thank goodness for delayed planes that day. Today will be different.
However, I must remember to put gas in the car. There is no indicator light; the only way to know is to look at the estimated mileage left. I'm down to 35 K, so getting around town will be OK, but I'm not going to make it back to Saskatoon.
Oh dear—visiting parents is a challenge. I feel that I need to help them make some changes, but they are fiercely independent, and it's going to be hard. I don't believe they eat right, how they get groceries into the house, etc. So we need to have that conversation today.
Then, the whole matter of cleaning the apartment. I don't have time to deal with it all today, but I'll be back, and it may be sooner rather than later. Of course, they will never admit they need help. They rely on my aunt, who lives close, but she's over 80 and isn't so mobile. It sure sucks to live far away, so we'll do the best we can!
I found that most elderly people don't eat well or drink enough, and those two factors alone can cause other issues, which is how they end up in trouble. So, wish me luck!
However, Mom asked if I could help get rid of some stuff. What? She has many stamps for scrapbooking, many of which have never been used. Is there even a market for that? I looked on Facebook Marketplace and yes - there are people selling them, but are people buying them?
I don't have time to deal with it this trip, but there's "some" stuff to go through. Thankfully, the closet that I thought was jam-packed isn't as jam-packed as I thought it was. But she is ready to get rid of that stuff. Hmm—because she needs the space to put something else in? I don't know. I'm not asking!
More quizzing, but she is a sly one who doesn't reveal everything. And although she says she isn't interested, it's a lie. Well, I'm not going there - you have all had to deal with ageing parents, and they are worse than little kids!
I just hope that when I reach that age, I will remain reasonable and not become mean, cranky, or uncaring!
While my aunt helps my parents, Dad, in turn, helps her with % $ $ OLD sewing machines or sergers. Most of them should probably be taken to the recycling depot, but he insists on fixing them. He had an old Singer sewing machine that he had repaired, but he needed to know if it worked well, as he's not into sewing. So I sat down, and while it sewed just fine, the tension on the thread was tight. There was not a lot of room to play.
So we pulled that tension mechanism apart and tried to fix that problem.

Well, then Dad got to watching a video on YouTube, so I took the assembly completely apart and played with it. Putting it back together was challenging, as that's not my thing.

I've done this before when I had a Featherweight, so it's not new, but that was a few years ago.
However, I put it together many times yesterday, and I could do it with my eyes shut now. We managed to get a bit more room on the tension dial, but it's still not working like I would like. No—it's working how I would like for a beginner sewist. But if you needed to change the tension, I would say it needs more work.
But we had a good time playing with it. It's actually kind of fun pulling that stuff apart and playing with it. I would never touch the inside of a new sewing machine, but taking apart an old one and seeing if you can reassemble it? I could do that!
I had a bit more yarn shopping to do, but now the only thing I have to deal with is the grocery situation.
I see the sun is out again, and it will be HOT today. And their apartment is hot—oh gosh—I'm going to die!
Thanks to Cathy for alerting me that I misspelled MOCHI. That's the name of that quilt pattern from yesterday. No wonder I could not find it—it's MOCHI, not YOCHI. The pattern designer was Beyond the Reef, and all I could think of was the Great Barrier Reef, which is something else altogether!!
Good grief - am I starting to lose it?
Besides the sewing machine yesterday, I helped Dad fix his printer. It wasn't printing properly, and hopefully, we got that resolved. Today, it's all about looking at printing from an iPad for someone else, and he's been asked to help out.
See what I mean? This is where I get this from. It's not my brain - it's his brain!
Well, I'd better figure out how this shower works, cause I need one today.
Have a super day!!!
Ciao!!!
