A Day In Nairobi

We didn't have too early of a start, as we lounged over breakfast and still trying to get our bearings. We decided to head down to the National Museum of Kenya and have a look. We took an Uber. Well, I don't think it ended up being an Uber. But it didn't matter as we got where we wanted to for the same price. But these ghost Uber drivers are everywhere. I don't think I can even begin to describe the traffic. It's literally every man for themselves. We were told that if you want to get anywhere quick and cheap - it's by motorcycle. Did i mention there are uber motocycles? We were also told that the accident rate for motorcycles is high. Many don't wear helmuts and we saw one person - obviousy the drive. but then we saw two people, three people and DH saw four!!!! And they will carry anything on the motocycle and we saw loads of people with you name, they were carrying it -- today we saw a bed!!!! The rails were sideways, but this was not in the city. there are no street lights and loads of rounabouts. no one hesitates, they just go. its insane. everyone cuts each other off but thats accepted behavior. street vendors walk between tha cars and try to sell big down verts, batteries charger câbles, food, games and books. its a circus We were not on our game to start the day. sorry my keyboard is on my lap and not very solid. Anyway --- we bouught esim cards before we left and we thought we had them installed properly. We did not check before we left the hotel. So we get on the way, only to discover that we don't have internet. I know --- first world prolems. but the idea was we were going to geocache at the museum and without wifi - it wasnt going to work. However we arrived and were able to get wifi around the front desk. thankfully the Adventure Lab was near the front desk, so I managed to get it, but not without a lot of frustration. But all is good!!!! It was going home for DH as he used to visit that museum as a child and speaking of childreen, that place was packed with school children. We also visited the house of snakes! Yeah!!!! turtles, tortoises, snakes of all kinds and sizes. A big eye opener. I still don't like snakes. We made it back to the hotel so we could have a very late lunch. It was crazy to get back into the hotel grounds because of all the security. The president was visitng at the convention house next door. So we had to walk a bit, but that was OK.. my fitness tracker has thought I have died as I'm not geting many steps in.. We spent the afternoon getting the esim cards organized. It appears we bought the right ones, but missed a step in the installation process. All is good and we now have data!!! because of the late lunch, I wasn't hungry, so we sat on the outdoor patio on the 10th floor that overlooked the park. It gets dark quick. Sun rise - 6 30, sunset 6 30 --- more or less. Then DH's second cousin once or twice removed arrived with his wife and we all had a great visit while we had a late dinner. It sounds like they hAve a very unique life style - traveling the world while they follow up with their private company it was late when we finally got to bed and I couldnt sleep. then I fell into a deep sleep and well, that's it for today. I"ll try to catch up with what happened today beause it was even crazier than yesterday!!! And the reason there was no blog this morning was becuase I slept in!!!!! ACK!!!!And my phone had not charged all the way. Silly tech issues, but all is good. now, lets see if i can fix some of those typos. Hvea great day!!!! ciao
