Dragon Star - November reveal

Last night was the ongoing class for Dragon Star at Brampton Sew n Serge. Wow - these ladies have all worked hard since last time we met. Last month, some of them were still contemplating fabric choices or figuring out the paper piecing technique, but this month - they were on fire!!!!   Everyone had show n tell.............

Let's see if I can do this by memory or will I need to consult my notes???

At this point, there are supposed to be 24 of these units (S) complete. Eight of them are for the center of the quilt and the other 16 are for outer points. So 8 have to be the same and 16 have to be same, but most made them all the same which works as well. And to refresh your memory - here is a picture of Dragon Star.......

Yes - no notes!!!!!!!!!!!     It is easy when you post the homework right away!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here are the pictures showing you how to cut the spikes. Start by cutting the stripes of fabric as per my handout for DF1. (Bag #2). Then sub cut the strips into rectangles.

Lay the template onto the rectangle. Make sure that you have TWO  rectangles (of fabric) on top of each other with right sides or wrong sides together. (This will give you the "pair" needed - one for the left side of the center spike and one for the right side of the center spike

When you cut - make sure that the template is somewhat centered so that the shapes are similar in size.

Use the wider stripes for the two wider templates and the narrower strip of fabric for the narrower template.

Repeat the process with the narrow strip and the narrow templates.

Again - make sure when you cut that the pieces are approximately the same size.

Then you can repeat this process with the spikes - (the above is the background - this is from cutting the quilt that is at the store)

If you have any questions - please let me know.

Have fun with it.

Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ciao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
