While the boomerang project is still on my plate, a good portion of it got cleaned up yesterday, and that was great. Now that the new formula is figured out, the rest of it should much quicker. I'm not big on change - OK - I don't really mind change, but it takes a while to figure out how to work with the change.
That change was part of the problem - I struggled with that. But all is good now. I've got a plan, and I'm good to go!! Yeah! I don't know that I'll get all of it completed today - I do have a couple of other things that also need to be done, so I'll work on several of them today.
I had a couple of errands to do yesterday, including some retail therapy! For some reason, my FitBit has gone wild. It cycles through all the mini-programs on it, and it can completely lose power in one hour. That's not acceptable when every step counts!
I did some research and found the same price online as in person, so I went in person to buy it. At first, I thought the long line in front of the store was because the store was that busy, then realized that the store hadn't opened yet! Phew! I had done some research before I went in, so I knew exactly what I wanted, and I knew the store had the item.
One thing I've noticed is that people are starting to get more comfortable with the COVID issue. People are wearing masks because they are the law. But NO ONE sanitized their hands unless they were explicitly asked to do so. That's been the same everywhere I've been in the last couple of days.
Back to shopping - when I looked at the options available, I almost caved and bought something else instead.
This is what caught my eye - hey - it's orange!!!
The Ionic by FitBit |
This is what I went to buy.
The Versa 2 by FitBit |
I was comparing the two on the chart when someone came up and asked if they could help me. Thank you, BESTBUY, for your excellent customer service. Something that you would NEVER get online. The Ionic was cheaper by $50, but the salesperson told me the difference between the two and suggested that the Versa 2 was the better of the two and newer. I would be happier with the Versa 2.
The comparison chart |
So - I stuck to my original plan and bought the Versa 2. It's charged up now and ready to be synced this morning so I can start wearing it.
In the meantime, I'm charging the old one yet again this morning. It's a daily ritual with that Charge 2HR. Oh well - it's been around for a while as the Charge 4 was released last year. I think Charge 2 was released in 2016, so it's probably time to get it upgraded. And now, I have the same tracker as the others in my walking group! I wonder what happens to my step count? Theoretically, it shouldn't change.
Later in the day, I walked to Indigo and the grocery store as I was looking for the latest issue of Quiltmaker. Gosh - the darn thing still isn't on our shelves, and yet my friend Susan bought it out west. Hmm..............
The book selection sure isn't what it used to be. This is the Crafts and Hobbies section (doesn't include the knitting, crochet, etc.). Half of those shelves are coloring books for adults!!! And notice that there's nothing on either the top or the bottom shelves. Yep - the instore selection is getting really scarce.
The Crafts & Hobbies section |
This is the magazine section, which is even more sparse than the book section. This section might be a thing of the past in the no so near future. I don't just mean quilting magazines, but all magazines.
The magazine section |
No magazine at Indigo, and since the grocery store was on my way home, I stopped in to see if they had it. Nope. I'm happy to report that there's a LOT of toilet paper though! And iced tea!
Lots of toilet paper |
I did find a small book in the bargain section at Indigo on Walking, so I bought it!
A book about walking |
Remember that walking is one of the most important things that you can do every day. You don't need to walk far, but you should attempt to get out of your house/apartment every day for a walk, even if you walk the halls in your apartment building. If you don't, you will not forget how to walk, but your ability to walk will become restricted, and you'll end up with all kinds of health issues. Besides walking is so good for your mental health!!!
I had one other stop yesterday. I had to pick up some samples from a colleague. She used to be an educator with SVP but has moved onto another job. Would I like her samples? Sure - so I went with an IKEA bag.
Four huge tubs of samples |
OH my - that's a LOT of samples. I ended up bringing all the samples home, and I'll go through them at my leisure and then return what I don't want/need to the company. Those four GIANT totes just fit in the back of my car!
Well, today is going to be another great day! I'm going to go for maximum impact on crossing off items on my "to do" list for the week. The good thing is, I don't have much to add to it for next week. Yeah!!!
Have a super day!!!
Ciao!!!
You might like the book, Bold Spirit Helga Estby's Forgotten Walk Across Victorian America. She and her teenage daughter walk from Spokane WA to NYC in seven months in 1896 trying to win a $10000 prize. I haven't read it yet but it's gotten good reviews.

DeleteThanks - I LOVE those kinds of books.
For the phone needing charged more frequently: My last phone would do that. Someone recommended letting it completely use up the charge and shut itself off. Then recharge it. It helped my last phone. My new phone holds a charge longer and I haven't had it long enough for this problem yet.
ReplyDeleteLinda -- I might try that. I think part of the problem is that I wasn't plugging in like I normally did and so at certain times of the day, the charge was different than it would be normally. I'm such a routine freak - so I must get back to the way I used to do things.
