Harry Potter puzzle

OH MY GOSH --- who posted the comment about the quilted boat made with larch trees? It came through as anonymous!!! But that was exactly the boat I was talking about. If anyone else wants to read about it, you can check it out here. Shoot, that didn't work, and I don't have time to follow up. A job for tomorrow.

I'm sorry about yesterday's post! I had written it and proofread it, but when it came time to post it, I forgot that wee step. Someone texted me that it was missing! Thanks, Mary!

I also do not have time to relate my story to you. I'm in a bit of a rush this morning. I am off to the gym to meet with Brooke.

While I made progress on the pattern testing, I didn't even complete a single block. It's been a couple of silly days, and that's all I'm going to say about that.

I had a small puzzle that I knew I could tackle relatively quickly, so I did that. This is a very weird puzzle. The pieces are rounded and made of plastic.

Round, plastic puzzle pieces

When it's together, this is what it looks like. The puzzle is shaped like an egg. Do you know who that is?

Why - it's Harry Potter

I thought putting the last pieces of the puzzle together would be a challenge, since I had to use my fingers on both sides of the pieces to hold them in place. However, the structure was firm enough that the final two pieces clicked into place with no issue.

The back of the Harry Potter puzzle

This is the brand - Hylkies by Ravensburger. They are collectibles apparently, with figures from Harry Potter, Star Wars, DC, and Marvel Comics.

The puzzle box

It was fun to do, but not the style that I like, so I won't be doing any more. I did not buy it either, but it was on loan to me.

There are so many puzzles, both in the pictures available, the quality, and the number of pieces! It's definitely like quilting. So much to do and so little time. What's shocking is that the puzzlers are just like the quilters -- huge piles of "UFOs" to assemble. And then there's the question of which ones to keep and which to sell, swap, or donate. At least, it's a ton easier to get rid of a puzzle than it is to get rid of a quilt!

I'm sorry for the short post. A lot is going on—everyone is OK. But my time is not quite my own some days. Hopefully I can elaborate on that tomorrow.

Have a super day!!

What is this technique - mystery solved!

Oh dear -- I'm not sure what happened to that link for the classes, but I reset it in yesterday's post just in case I didn't get the correct one. And here it is again. The post is from June 18, so if that link doesn't work, you can go back and search for it. I have a lot of work to do when I'm home, and I didn't get much done yesterday morning except prep things for the afternoon and evening.

OH MY—we have a hotel situation this morning. There is someone out in the hallway, and they don't sound too happy. I did not open my door, but she sounds inebriated and perhaps locked out of her room. Not sure what the issue is, but she doesn't sound happy. I finally called the front desk and security, and the police are on the way. Never a dull moment! Actually, this hotel has been pretty quiet throughout the stay, and things happen. Thankfully, I was awake when it started.

Oh shoot --- she stopped, and now she's back at it! EDIT -- all has been quiet for quite some time now.

Anyway -- I got totally sidetracked in videos on Facebook, and well, it's just one of those days.

So I'm going to ask for your help. This was a quilt at Quilt Canada. It's quite impressive  - the base photo is all thread-painted. EDIT --- go to the end to see the mystery solved!

The artist's statement

It won a prize - a judge's choice, if I remember correctly. However, it has sort of taken the show by storm, and I realized this morning while searching that the quilt won Viewer's Choice, but I'm a bit miffed about the piece. Why? Because if you read the credits on the statement, it says she used a technique that she saw at the Houston show 13 years ago. While this is likely correct, a book has been published on this technique. And I think that the book author's name should have been included in the credits.

The big question is, who was that author? I can picture the book cover in my head, but I can't read the author's name. I'm not sure if I have the book—I might, but I don't remember seeing it when I went through my books a couple of months ago. Trust me, I have tried Googling everything I can think of to find the book, but I'm stuck.

So—my question to you is: does anyone have that book, and remember who the author was? I think the credit needs to be attached to this quilt. I'm surprised the judge chose the piece when proper credit was not given to it. That should be a given when a quilt wins an award. It's also the problem with stuff that happened years ago. People think things are NEW and inventive when they are not—it's been done before. And yes—this artist did say she saw the technique 13 years ago, so if people read it, they should know it's not new.

Well, I keep getting distracted.

This is one of the books I bought at the bookstore the other day. I know—I am not a fan of things that need to be done every day. But it's all about gratitude, which I don't think we spend enough time on, and there are puzzles for every day. Very simple ones, so maybe it will be a good diversion, which I haven't even opened this morning.

My new gratitude puzzle journal

Yesterday's puzzle was a word search, which took about 5 minutes to complete. And there was a page to write down a few things. Sometimes, it's good to write things down - prompts for things you want to keep in mind, prompts for things you want to change. And there was a place to write one large goal for the month.

I'm happy to share that goal; it's for July. It's all about getting my long arm up and running properly. While it has no issues with quilting, it does need a good spa day. The old leaders (20 years) need to come off, the rails cleaned, the magnets sewn into the new leaders, and then attached to the bars. I also need a new brake, which I must order today. Then I should consider putting all the screws back on the housing, since it seems the electronics are working fine. The design files need to be organized on the computer into a more manageable file structure. And I need to learn/practice that one technique. So it will be a busy month to get all that done, but when it's done? It'll be like a new machine. OH - and new clamps on the sides.

That is my goal for the month, and I already have a date planned on July 1 when someone is coming to help me put on the new leaders. It'll be easier for two people because of the leader's length. Once we are done, then we zip to her house and install her new leaders!

I saw this at Tim's yesterday. Yep—a small change can have a big impact. I don't get why people grab handfuls of napkins - one should usually suffice unless you are a very messy eater. And that's another mystery in life - why are some people prone to messy eating and others are not? Is it because they eat messy foods? Not paying attention? I am NOT a messy eater, but why?

How many napkins do you really need?

I don't have many shirts that require ironing before wearing, but I have this one, which I really like, and I should wear it more often. It's made from quilting cotton, and I find that after years of wearing knit shirts, wearing a solid cotton shirt is very restrictive. But the pattern for this shirt is amazing. It has a lot of darts in the sleeves and the front, not just one, and there are two darts in the back, and it fits like a glove. I should make a few more in different fabrics. I must dig that pattern out. It's super comfortable for a cotton shirt. I also have an orange one just like it.

I love this shirt and should wear it more often.

Speaking of orange, this was the view from my room when I first woke up!!! WOW --- look at that color!!! It's spectacular. There was a bit of rain this morning, but I think it's going to be another nice day.

The sky this morning

So my experience with Uber is typically getting to and from the airport. Since I wasn't able to rent a car, I decided to take Uber. It felt weird to go to a location other than the airport, but it's super slick and costs a lot less than renting a car that would have sat most of the day. Then, when I came back to the hotel last night, I had Uber pick me up. Because all the financial transactions take place within the app, you never need to worry about paying a driver and then figuring out a tip and whatever. You stop and immediately get out of the car. I LOVE it.

I had to laugh last night because I had some tough attendees in the session on the digital cutter. Loads and loads of questions, and I suspect that one person had ADHD, and it showed! I was exhausted. However, I am shocked/surprised at the number of older people (people my age and older) who are into AI. If you don't know something, just ask ChatGPT. They might not be able to say ChatGPT, but they know how to use it.

But don't use it when I'm talking. Anyway, their kids must have pushed that on them. And while I'm OK with people using it, I'm not a fan of using it for everything. Typing in a search engine works just fine as well. And it's a lot less intrusive in a class.

Trust me -- I have tried searching for the author of the technique mentioned above, but I can't find them.

SQUIRREL --- I was determined to find the darn information. Instead of trying to find it with words, I posted a picture, and VOILA—Google came through, and here is the link to the "original" author. I don't know if Flora is actually the first person to use this technique in a quilt, but she is the first place I saw it. Her first art quilt (in a show) using this technique was in 2014, and the book was published in 2015 by the American Quilters Society. Here is a link with her information. The quilts are stunning!!!

Trispective 3-in1 quilt book

OK, I can relax now -- I solved the mystery, and 13 years ago is not that long ago, but no one knew that this technique had been done previously and so famously!!!! The people who commented on Facebook had no clue. Flora Joy is a very inventive quilt maker. Her stuff is mostly 3-D and very cleverly constructed.

I think that credit on that piece is NOT complete, and I don't care how good it is --- credit should have been given to the proper person. I have done that -- I posted the link and Flora's name on the pictures on Facebook. I used this current artist's photo to find the original - it took mere seconds to find that information (once I thought of searching by photo). The current artist should have done the same.

The quilt at Quilt Canada also won the Viewer's Choice award - I didn't know that until I did my research.

On that note, I can rest! I love a good mystery.

Have a super day!!!

Ciao!!!

NOTE: I am flying out early tomorrow morning, so there may or may not be a blog.

The never ending little job list

The little jobs around the house NEVER end!

I "fixed" the bubbler for the pond. I had brought the entire thing into the house and realized that the teeny tiny hole at the end of the tube was clogged with debris. So I poked that all out, put some water in the sink, and VOILA - the bubbler is working again. Now, to put it back into the pond.

Then I opened the door to the furnace room to get a basket and saw water on the floor. The furnace, which is only a couple of years old, has sprung a leak. Not my problem - we rent it! But I need to call them, but not before I clean the reusable filter, which I've been meaning to do for the last couple of months.

I now have to add that service call, which actually needed to be done a month ago, to the list of things to do. I'm feeling pretty good about the paperwork - there will always be lots, but I think I have the critical stuff under control, and that's a good thing! However, it's a constant struggle to complete all the small tasks.

However, there is even better news this morning. Look! This is dog quilt number SEVEN!!!!!

Dog quitl - Number seven

I have loaded the final quilt in that series onto the long arm this morning, and if all goes right, it'll be done by the end of today. That will keep me on schedule to get these quilts quilted by Friday, and then it'll be a push to get the binding on, so they can leave the house sooner rather than later. I'm not doing so bad, considering I made these in September. Of course, as I watched the long arm in that tricky spot, it worked like a charm!

Taking stock of what still has to be quilted before the end of the year, I came up with this. There are eleven quilts in the "favor" pile, and 7 more of the children's flannel quilts. There are customer quilts, but I'm not counting those. They will get done, but I use new batting for them, and the backings are made.

I still have this much batting from that closet. WAIT -- -there is still the top shelf in that closet - this is all that remains from the piles I brought down. Keep in mind that all these 18 quilts are smallish -- 50 by 60 at the largest. There is enough batting in these piles to easily make the batting for those quilts. And I'll bet there will be some left over!

Batting bit that I want to use by the end of the year

I would love to get these quilts out of the house by the end of the year, along with whatever customer quilts I have. That's my goal, and it's a lofty one considering how much time it took to quilt those eight dog quilts. Those eighteen also need the backing made and the batting sewn together, so it won't be quick. I'll do them in groups of four and then take a day or two break, so I should be OK.

Let's see what happens, but I have a goal!

It would be nice to start the new year with a "clean" slate of new community projects and no more favors!

There are times when I worry about myself! I am pretty enthusiastic, not quite as bad as Murphy, but energetic. I sometimes buy things and then forget that I bought that item. It has resulted in duplicate purchases on occasion.

I've been chatting about prewound bobbins for the long arm for the last couple of days and how much I love them. I am fortunate that my long arm is excellent at maintaining tension. I can change thread weights and batting types, and it just loves everything I throw at it. So that's a positive.

Anyway, I noticed two boxes sitting ON TOP of the little cabinet where I keep my long arm tools, that I use EACH time I use the long arm. OH - what's in these boxes? OH MY GOD -- they are prewound bobbins - exactly the kind I'm going to purchase. How long have they been sitting there, and where did I buy them?

Boxes of prewound bobbins

You know what they say -- a hoarder doesn't see the junk in their house because they are so used to seeing it. Well, that was the case for these two boxes. I cannot believe I've overlooked them for how long?

What colors are they? I bet Cathy knows just by the numbers, but I had to open them up! I'm very excited that I found these before I place my order, hopefully next week.

Neutrals

And they allow me to function in the real world and drive a car? It was when I went to get a basket from the furnace room to store all the pounds that I spotted the water on the floor. It's not a lot - probably a hose that came loose, and it's all going in the drain, so no issues.

The accounts will be set up, allowing me to purchase the pre-wounds and the new thread brand going forward. I understand that the price of thread is going to be affected significantly by tariffs, so having a Canadian source for the thread going forward is a good thing.

Speaking of Canadian sources for thread, have any of you spent any time on the Wonderfil website? You should because they have a ton of information about threads. And for those VISUAL learners, guess what? It's all on YouTube! Be sure to check it out, because then you'll know just as much, or more, about thread than I do!

While the cutting table is looking a bit disheveled these days, it won't be so bad when I start binding those quilts. I have quilt number seven to trim, and I'll do that while number eight is being quilted. Then I need to dig out fabric for the bindings.

The current state of the cutting table

I thought I'd pop into the thrift store. It's on my way home from the dentist. I had an appointment to rebuild a tooth whose filling had broken off way back in the summer. I went to the dentist to report it, and well, it never got followed up on. I know I've mentioned this before, but as a child and young adult, I had a strong aversion to the dentist. Now - it's no big deal. Just zone out when he does the nasty part, and then just lie there and think. I probably would have had a nap because I'm so relaxed now. What happened? My dentist can never retire, but he's about my age, so I know that's inevitable! What will I do?

I had a look at the purses. One of my students mentioned she finds purses at the thrift store and takes them apart to use the materials. I would definitely ONLY do that on a sale day because it's much cheaper to buy vinyl by the yard! And you get a lot more. Some of those purses are going for over $20!!! But if you're looking for a small amount of something unique, this could be the place to find it. Plus, you get a great zipper and lots of fancy hardware if you make bags, which I don't make a lot of.

One-half of the purse selection at the thrift store

I spotted new packaging for the Dowdle puzzles. Is that new or a new line of puzzles? If you have a puzzle fan in your house and Christmas is approaching, the Canada series is a fun option! I see a few on the website that I've not seen before! They also have US cities and parks. I love these puzzles. The old packaging is on top and the new one is on the bottom. I couldn't find any information on the boxes on the bottom - no size, no number of pieces. Are they knockoffs? OH -- it's the FOLK ART series.

Dowdle puzzles at the thrift store

OK -- I looked, and the website directed me to another website, which led to a rabbit hole. There are so many puzzles. I do NOT need another puzzle. I cannot buy another puzzle - I have no storage room left. I will NOT buy another puzzle!

What do you think? Is this quote accurate?

Is this you?

It certainly seems that way when it comes to learning. We become so settled in what we know that we forget how exciting it is to learn or explore new places by immersing ourselves in a book or any kind of learning environment. I've said so much on that, but it's true! I won't become a broken record, but don't be afraid of trying something new. If you make a mistake - guess what? You are fortunate! Because you won't do that again, and now you have learned something!

I have to laugh because I'm probably the only one who stops and takes pictures of "nothing" when I'm out walking. I spotted the school bus for the school that M used to attend. Her friend's pictures were on the back of it for years. Now it's just the name! But I grabbed a photo and sent it ot her!

Then I spotted this on the sidewalk. By the way -- all those CUT S/W places on the sidewalk? They are all shaved flat now!

Another sign on the sidewalk

I guess this metal plate will eventually be inserted. It's quite a big job to put those metal plates in there. What is the purpose?

Tactile Warning Plate

Well, in fact, they are called Tactile Warning Plates and are designed to alert the visually impaired that they are approaching a corner. I walk over them a thousand times a day (OK - not that many), but I walk over them all the time. Since I don't have any visual impairment, I guess I ignore them with my feet. BUT if I were visually impaired, I'd be more aware of them!

Now here's that little guy with attitude! He is pretty feisty and not afraid to use his outside voice in the house!

Grandma, you are not listening to me!

DH said he spotted a lady walking by on the sidewalk. Bear was turned around and staring out the window, which is one of his favorite things to do. The lady was laughing so hard at him and took his picture! It's even funnier when Murphy is in the window too!!! You can just see his tiny head from outside!

But this morning, he was fast asleep in his bed while I loaded the last dog quilt. Or was he sleeping?

Grandma -- I'm watching you!

It's undoubtedly a three-ring circus with three dogs. My girls are more needy when he's here - they don't want all the attention to go to him. And between letting them in and out of the house, feeding, walking, and other tasks, it can consume a lot of time during the day. But it's all in the name of love, so I don't mind.

I have one appointment this afternoon, and you have to wait to see what happens at this appointment! The rest of the day is mine!

I have nine items on my paperwork list - can I complete them all in a couple of hours? None of them should take a lot of time, so I'm hopeful! And I was looking for a piece of paper in the filing cabinet yesterday and came across a whack of service records for my 2011 Toyota Matrix, which was two cars ago! Let's just say that a large stack of paper has been dealt with, and one more empty file folder now sits in the filing cabinet. That cabinet is NOT super jammed, and I really should take one folder a day and deal with it or whatever, and then I can file new stuff in it that is sitting out on the spare desk.

It's time to get the day started!!!

Have a super day!!!

Ciao!!!

Solving puzzles

Wow -- those AI bots are creepy. It's incredible how they can drill down into one of my posts and pick out something like CNC when I don't even mention it! It's a crazy world!

Anyway, I was in the car early and made it to class on time, but not before stopping at Walmart to find some stuff for my Mom. I almost completed the mission, but I will try the local store here to see if I can find the last color of yarn she wanted.

What's even more bizarre is that once I connected my phone to the car's Bluetooth, it remembered the last locations I had plugged in when I was here in December. That's creepy!

Navigation memory!

We had a great day learning all about the mySewnet embroidery software. It was a hands-on class and was well-received. All I can say is that I bet everyone was exhausted when they got home last night. I was! I was in bed very early and slept like a log.

I had to chuckle when I walked into the classroom. This is a quilt that hangs over the back wall. Anyone in our 9:15 UFO class will recognize this quilt. It's called Yochi - I don't think that is the correct spelling, but do you think I can find the pattern online? Nope -- it's not happening!

Yochi quilt

Anyway, it was a great day, and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on software experience. I will say that I need to brush up on the Mac version. The functionality is the same, but boy - the interface doesn't make sense at all. It's crowded and cluttered, and things are all over the place.

I thought Apple was supposed to be intuitive when it came to graphics and such. I didn't find this to be the case. Hence, I'll dig out my Apple computer when I'm home and see what I can come up with.

It'll be like solving a puzzle. Here is the book I bought at the bookstore the other day. I love this kind of puzzle. What are they? They are logic puzzles, but broken down in a completely different way from what I have seen in the past. This layout seems too simple compared to what Dell magazine used to do. However, I'm sure when I reach the Impossible section, I may rethink what I said!

My new logic puzzle book

So, what did I do before I started quilting? I read a lot more, and I solved puzzles! I love puzzle solving, and now I have something to do in the morning. OK - while I'm here! Stop laughing!

I had to stop at Princess Auto to pick up something for Dad. Oh boy -- I don't think I've ever been in that store. I had a part number, and that was it. But with the help of a store employee, I found the correct aisle. But I needed someone else to help me find the part. I had no clue what it looked like. And when I got it back to my partners, it was in fact the correct part. Now  - it's up to the guys at the Museum to see if it will work!

Why didn't they make it? They didn't have any material to make it from. I don't understand, and I don't need to know more than that!

The weather is sure bizarre. It was 0 Celsius yesterday morning, but it wasn't really cold. Oh yes - I forgot - it's a dry cold here!

I have one last puzzle to figure out: how the shower works. I know that sounds so ridiculous, but it's the most bizarre thing. I even asked at the desk, and I still don't think I know how it works. I'll test it out later, and if that doesn't work, I'll have to get someone to help me. That's insane. You would think it would be easy, and you would think all the rooms in this hotel would be the same. This is not my first time staying here.

Dad and I will be playing with his computer today as we try to reconnect his printer and test a sewing machine that he repaired. Never a dull moment here!

Well, on that note, I'm off for breakfast and then to get the day started! Nothing to do today except some shopping for Mom and a visit while we solve those issues mentioned above. So that will be nice and relaxing.

Although I started listening to a new audiobook for the drive to and from Saskatoon. Oh boy - the miles just burned up and I wish the trip was longer! This one is bizarre. Written by Mary Kubica, called Local Woman Missing. Oh boy!! Where do these women come up with these creepy storylines? And I'm afraid of what the truth will be!!!!

Have a great day!!!

The end of the rainbow

The good news is that I will announce all the NEW classes/clubs I'll be running in the fall. I will try putting them on ONE page so you can print them out. That's a job for later today, and if that fails, I'll make a separate blog post so it's all in one spot! Feels good to get that done! Watch for that tomorrow!!!!

I think I should throw in a free class on how to take pictures with your cell phone! Do people realize that we are no longer buying/leasing cell phones but cameras??? That is the ONLY reason people need to get the latest one. The phone functions we use don't change, but the cameras do! So if you have a smartphone, you should learn how to use it!

Cell phones have oodles of parameters, and it would be great to figure out the optimal way to send photos. I know what works for me, but that doesn't always work on other platforms with different apps.

I'll have to think about that one!

First, I'd like to pat myself on the back. Look at the office space. The floor is tidy with one bag on it, which has already been moved. The desktop is relatively clear of paperwork. I've been slogging away at it and actually seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!

A relatively tidy office space

There was still one stack of paperwork that needed to be gone through. So I quickly did that to see if anything urgent was in the pile. Nope -- so I processed a couple of things, and the remainder is in a neat stack on the computer desk. Who said you can't get ahead of the paper? OK -- so I am by no means ahead; I'm treading water and holding my own!

One more stack to process

Of course, I had help. This is Murphy under my computer desk. I think she's mostly there to get away from the stormy weather. She is NOT a fan of thunder and unsettled skies. Lexi, who used to be terrified, couldn't care less, although she gets a bit edgy if it's really bad.

Mom -- can you protect me? I'm scared!

Have you ever asked yourself what you would do if you didn't quilt? I was a fanatic for logic puzzles, Sudoku, and other puzzles. A trait I got from my paternal grandfather, who loved puzzles of any kind. So I've got a Suduko book sitting on the kitchen table and plugging away at various puzzles during lunch.

My lunchtime entertainment

And it's all been going well until this. Do you spot the problem? What do you do when that happens? I simply erase the entire thing and start over!

Oops

Lately, there doesn't seem to be time to sew - it's all work. Quilting customer quilts, writing (which is very time-consuming), and prepping for classes. By the end of the day, I have no desire to sew something of my own. I hope to change that in the fall!

I had to drop off a FIT test - don't ask -- they are gross! So that was my errand for the day. I found a drop-off spot within walking distance, and away I went. I had wondered what time they closed. Well, I got lucky. I arrived at 3:07, and they closed at 3:00. Phew -- just snuck in under the wire on that one!!!

They are making significant progress on these new condos/apartments now that the underground part is done.

New apartment buildings under construction

I think it's very sad that our city is so happy to raze down entire retail complexes to build housing. Never mind the added chaos to the traffic congestion, services, etc. OH, and I was walking into the mall parking lot, and I was in the middle of the WELL-MARKED crosswalk, and some idiot just blasted through the stop sign and, within two feet of me, drove past. Of course, I yelled at him! I don't get why people feel they are a priority in their cars.

What we need to do, is encourage MORE retail space if it will encourage people to walk. Of course, that won't happen, but seriously --- we need to be getting our butts out the door (or encouraging the younger generations to do so), or our medical system will collapse under the weight of unhealthy and unfit people. I know that is a general statement, so don't yell at me.

The other thing I saw yesterday that scared me a lot was a young person with a helmet driving one of those electric scooters (not the kind seniors drive), but the two-wheeled ones. He was in a live traffic lane and must have been going 40 KM -- there was traffic on the street behind him. He would be dead if he slipped, fell, or hit a bump! While I appreciate the scooters, they are DANGEROUS to have them on the sidewalk with people and on the street with cars.

Well, that was a lot of doom and gloom! But it's true. There are days when I contemplate starting a new blog that is more opinionated than this one. But I haven't ...... yet.

I have one thing to say about money, and I know this is out of the blue, but it's very much a part of my life these days. Amazing how your friends and family are all happy and cheerful, and the minute any significant amount of amount comes into the pictures, the VULTURES arrive. It's so sad and so greedy. There are a few people I could love to get out of the picture for a couple of weeks!

Another customer quilt is done! That's the last of the customer quilts for a spell. I need a break.

Customer quilt - DONE

And one more cone of thread - gone!

One more spool of thread

DH and I went out for dinner last night - I know - Thursday instead of Friday. And while we were there, there was a bit of a storm. As we were sitting there, I got a notification that our front door was open. WHAT? We both accused the other of not locking the door when we left the house! How quickly we forget who was the last one out the door. So we quickly finished (almost done anyway) and rushed home to find the door securely locked. Hmmmm.

Then when I went to finish the quilt on the long arm, the settings were off. The pattern wouldn't fit in the quilt. So I shut everything down and got it working. But I suspect we had a power glitch that caused both problems. We will have to train those girls to text us to say everything is OK. But of course, if the door is open, they'd be happy to explore!

As a result of the storm, I saw this before I went to bed. I  need to ask Evelyn if she found a pot of gold as she lives in the building where the rainbow seems to be coming out of!!!

A beautiful rainbow

And it was a complete rainbow. I took this from another window. Not the best, but you get the idea.

A complete rainbow

And, of course, there's Murphy and her ball. There is not ONE, but TWO Balls in that gap. We really need to get that fixed. But she sits patiently, well somewhat patiently, until we realize and come and rescue the balls. Again, this is not an accident!

MOM -- there are two balls here!

OK -- so watch for the class blog post -- either later today or tomorrow.
