Wow --- time is flying past at the speed of light! However, I'm so pleased with what I've accomplished here.
I did bring the bell which you are supposed to ring whenever you finish something. I haven't rung the bell often, but I'm OK with that. I did cut a few things at the last minute and put them in the bag, and those are the ones that I worked on. Only to find that I forgot to cut one section, or I was missing one piece. However, I made HUGE progress on that one project, and now it's put to bed for this retreat. I can't do any more work on it.
This was all part of the All in a Row project. I was behind, and now I'm ahead, and that makes me very happy. Here's one of the rows that I can share with you.
The camper row for the All in a Row quilt |
Sorry - the darn row is sideways, but that's OK. I had randomly (and quickly) selected fabrics for the various components. Before I left, I managed to get all the shapes traced onto the fusible. I cut them out here and was ready to get the row fused in place when I realized that I did NOT cut enough green for the bottom of the row. Sigh...............
However, the important thing is that I made HUGE leaps and bounds and wait until you see the All in a Row quilt now. It's going to look stunning with all those bright colors. That was three days of sewing to get caught up with that, so I'm thrilled.
I did manage to trim another pile of half-square triangles this morning. This time the units are trimmed to 2 1/2" so that was a bit larger. I'm still using the little cutoffs as enders and leaders, although today, I'll be chain piecing bits of a double wedding ring quilt, so I probably won't generate many enders and leaders.
I didn't leave the house yesterday. No, that's not true - I did go for a walk after lunch when the rain stopped. Yep - more steady rain all morning. But the afternoon cleared up, and I was happy to go for a walk. And Yes - I went up and down those steep hills again. It did not seem nearly so bad the second time. I'll be out there again today. I did NOT do my usual mileage, which isn't bad, but I want to do the usual mileage.
Here's the little piece that I finished two days ago. It only needed the borders put on, and I seemed to have a few challenges with that, but it's on. Remember those little half square triangles finish at 1/2". So they are teeny!!!! But I love that kind of thing. I'm just weird that way.

Gold thread |
As usual, we're eating like queens. A bit too much in the dessert department, but it's only for a couple of days, so I can live with that, I suppose. All the more reason to get out for a walk. I wonder if it'll be dry enough to walk in the forest today? I don't think so - I didn't bring boots, and I don't want to get my relatively new running shoes dirty.
I had a decent sleep last night, although I woke up a bit earlier than usual. And it was dead silent - no snoring, no generator, no lights. UNTIL the helicopter flew over, and it was very low, and it seemed to fly right over the house. A helicopter flying low about 3:30 AM is never a good sign. At least not back home as we live close to a hospital, and it's usually the air ambulance flying low.
Well, that's all I have to say today. Wow --- me - at a loss for words? All I can say is that we're having a blast. It's been so nice to get away, see real people again and find an amazing new retreat house.
I'll be sharing all the stuff I worked on when I get home.
Have a super day.
Ciao!!!
Your row is cheerful and brigh, I love it! Beautiful mini too, with a lot of tiny HST ;)
