Seams Appropriate

Hmmm -- It seems that I don't have access to my e-mail account, so even though I ran around yesterday taking pictures, I can't share them with you.

Why don't I have access to e-mail? Well, remember I had to set my laptop back to factory settings. And while the software got reinstalled, I had not set up all my accounts in the various programs; one of them was e-mail. I could reset the password and try and set it up. But I'm going to wait until I get back. I thought of throwing my little password book in, but I did not.

So you'll get a blog - but no pictures!

We're at a sewing retreat in cottage country. The place is called Seams Appropriate in Muskoka, and if you click on the link, you can see where we are. We are not a full house, so that works for us. I have to say that since we started coming with fewer than eight people, we're all loving it. There's more space for everyone to spread out and fewer people to be consulted for decisions, and well - I like it. Oh, did I mention that I have my own room!!! I don't think that's ever happened.

OH -- It did once but not at our normal retreat places.

I was a bit hesitant about the drive as it's a longer drive than normal, but Dede and I carpooled, and we chatted up a storm, so it was fine. Oh - I forgot to mention that we stopped at Thimbles and Things on the way, which definitely helped break up the drive! It was a bit bittersweet to stop there since our old retreat house was just down the road, and we saw the owner at the store. Sigh.......................   Time to move on!!

Our new retreat house appears to be in the middle of nowhere, but it's only 15 minutes from the nearest town. We're completely surrounded by trees, and I feel like we've moved to a rain forest area since we had rain most of yesterday and it's raining again. I didn't come prepared to walk in the rain, so today's steps might not be many unless I rip around the house and up and down the stairs!

We've met the wonderful owners, and we got a grand tour of the place when we arrived. Of course, we made a few changes to the setup the minute they were gone, but that's OK. It's what works for us.

So do we like it?? Oh yes -- it's a wonderful house that's fully equipped with everything we could possibly want or need. It's beautiful, and I think I will forget about the long drive and definitely be back!

We seem to have great internet, which I know sounds like a frivolous thing, but it's important in today's world of connectivity. And we're spread out over THREE floors, so it's pretty quiet. But we sew in ONE room. But if you need to get away from the others, there's loads of room to make that happen. Not that we want to get away!!!

The sewing room

There are NO quilt or fabric stores near us. So we have no reason to go to town. Although we did and the highlight of that trip was to get to the grocery store! It must have been grocery stock-up day for the locals and the cottagers as that place was packed!!!!  All of us went to the store, and that's the problem, there wasn't enough time for me to see the things I wanted to see -- OK - so I wanted to browse the magazines - just because I haven't been out for a long time. I didn't get to see them.

And I wanted to see if they had sweatpants. I've been meaning to buy a pair for a long time but never got around to it. I have fabric to make some, which I should, but let's just say that it's a tad chilly up here! We went from the sweltering heat of over 30 degrees to barely 10 degrees with LOTS of rain forecast today. Perhaps today won't be my day to wander back to town.

But did I get any sewing done? I did!! I'm working on my All in a Row, and I managed to get all those pesky flowers done. There were 12 of them, and it took me ALL DAY. I'm not sure why that was, but I'm happy to report that they are done. I finished up another small part of All in a Row this morning - well, as much as I could as I didn't have a chance to cut everything before I left, so I threw in some scraps, but I was a wee bit short. Not to worry - that'll only take a few minutes to finish when I get home.

Flowers from All in a Row

Today is a new day, and I'm pressing and trimming a bag of half-square triangles that I brought to work on. I don't really care what I do, as long as I'm doing. And if I need a nap (as I did yesterday), then I nap. This is vacation time!!

OH -- I'll post some of the pictures on Instagram and Facebook since I can't get them here.  Oh -- if I post them there, I can copy them. Let me do that.

OK  - I got two pictures for you.

That's it for today. It's time to get to work. I've got a huge bucket of stuff to sew, which I know, I'll only get a small part done, but that's OK.

Have a super day and stay dry if it's raining where you are!!!

Ciao!!!
