Valemount to Jasper

Here are the stats of the day

The Daily Stats

Ah - a great day to get out on the bike!!!

I stepped into the truck to sneak a new pair of shorts on and POP - I felt and heard something go POP in the back of my knee and I almost fell down except I grabbed the shelves. What the hell just happened??????   I do not know, but let's say that I was very worried that I had screwed something up. I managed to ride all day - it didn't hurt when I rode, but it did get tired a lot. So I sucked back Advil and use some linament that Travis had and I was fine for the rest of the trip. DO NOT ask me to run - my leg just won't do that. Got to schedule a visit to the chiro when I get back to see what happened.

Cool sink in a tree stump which was attached to the shelter at our campground

A mountain was named for Terry Fox - here I am by the info booth

The road divides - onward to Jasper!!!!!!

Having a break by the bridge

Do you know what mountain this is??????   Yes - Mount Robson. Unfortuantely we did not get to see the top because of clouds. But what a beautiful view. Again - the pictures do NOTHING for actually being there!!!!

Again - we met up with the fast riders!!! (Only because they were taking their time!) This is in the restaurant at Mount Robson where we paid an exorbitant price for a juice and a muffin - something like $7.00!!!!!!
Amazing what you can do with a captive audience as there are few places around to eat.

The boys from Switerzerland
We stopped at this lake for lunch in a nice pull out. While we were there, we ran into these two fellows who were both from Switzerland. At first I thought they were just starting their trip from Alaska. Oh no - the one fellow on the left had been on the road for a LONG time. He figured that he had about 20,000 KM (that is NOT a typo) under his belt on this trip. South America, Central America and now Canada and then down into the US. The two of them had met up somewhere and decided to stick together. It was very interesting to chat with them.
Our crew eating their lunch

Yeah - we MADE it to ALBERTA!!!!!!!!   This was pretty cool to see the sign. FIrst it meant that we had finished one province and only one more to go, but also the end of the day was close!!!!!  And mosquitos - where did all the mosquitos come from???????

Prisca arriving at the Alberta border

Oh - here come the Swiss boys

We are now on the Icefields Parkway. Hmmm - this is worrying me - I have a feeling that we are going to run into HIGH altitudes, meaning snow and cold????????

Then we FINALLY arrived at the camp site, but not before we headed into a HUGH head wind which fortuanately lasted for only a KM or two. But after THREE LONG days - I was VERY happy to arrive at the camp site. We had to take the long way around to get to our camp site.

When we arrived at the camp site - we found Travis, but where was his bike???????   Look UP - look WAY UP!!!!!
oh yes - you are wondering why Travis' bike was in the tree. Well prankster Dave decided to play a joke on him. A piece of rope and a few quick moves and voila - the bike was up the tree. Poor Travis was looking and looking, but couldn't find the bike. Finally Dave fessed up. It was hysterical!!!!!

We had elk in the park - right beside our camp site

Lynn and her lovely tan. She definitely beat all of us in the tan area. Of course - the rest of us were so bundled up - there was no time for us to tan. She was braver than us I guess. But her hands are pretty funny!!!!!

Relaxing at dinner

Relaxing at dinner

Our entertainment for the evening - this little boy rode his bike around and around the camp site showing us his skills. He was very entertaining!!!!

Dianne (who wore sandals for the entire trip!!) this is her cool tan!!!!!!   If you remember Dianne was the one with the duct tape so the other foot didn't have the same tan lines.

Jim finishing off the bowl of whipped cream!!!!!!

Travis gets his bike back. It took a bit of skill for Dave to get the bike out of the tree. It was a dead tree and the rope got stuck so yes - we were wondering whether Travis would have a bike to ride the next day!!!!!

Jim with his Strong Bow. Double fisted no less!!!!

Mike and Bernice. They were only riding as far as Jasper and we said goodbye to them at this camp site.

What a day - full of surprises, full of fun. And a gorgeous camp site.

Have a great day!!!!

Ciao!!!!!
