Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is going to short and have NO pictures. Thank god for the blog as I do NOT remember from year to year what I do on New Year's Eve. Apparently M had a party at our house last yea and I had been sick over the holidays. Who remembered that???

DH and I went out last night. Met new people, visited with friends and had a really good time. I better say that we went to Casey and Karen's otherwise this time next year I will be wondering  - where DID we go? As usual I am the designated driver and we picked up our neighbours (Laura and Doug) and took them with us.

Near the prescribed hour - we donned party hats and noise makers and had a great time ringing in the new year. We also played a games called Things which is quite interesting and since some of us didn't know each other - it was a bit difficult for some, but BOY - sure funny how different people interpret the same statement. We had loads of laughs!!!!

Then at 1 PM, my body just gave out. I was EXHAUSTED and needed to get to bed ASAP. I don't think my head even hit the pillow before I was out. And I didn't get up until almost 8 which is why this blog is going to be somewhat short this morning.

I will post something else later in the day with pictures. My quilting thoughts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Funny how New Year's Day is a day to reflect on the year past. What was good, what was bad, what we accomplished. I would have to say the highlight of my year was my Tour du Canada trip. Yes - can't believe I cycled almost 8,000 KM in 10 weeks from coast to coast. Even though I did it - it is hard to believe!!!!    And I am itching to get back on my bike!!!   The worst was also associated with that trip and was the death of Bob and Irene Booth. Such a lovely couple - miss you Bob and Irene.

If I had to say what were big moments for M - well she had five - prom, graduating from high school (aren't they the same - NO she said), becoming vegan, (oh shoot - I can't remember the other two - but she got her FULL driver's license yesterday). No restrictions - just like a real grown up!!!!    And there was light snow on the ground so it was slick, but apparently she had no problem. Great job M!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sammy and Sparky - well they are just happy to have treats, walks, food and a warm place to sleep. Same thing as last year!!!!!!!!!!!    Ah to be a dog and have NO WORRIES!!!!!!!!!!

Who knows what 2014 is going to bring - but whatever it does bring  - this note got posted on Facebook yesterday and I LOVE IT......................

When something goes wrong in your life, just yell PLOT TWIST and move on.

Now isn't that just the best!!!!!!!!!

Some words of wisdom that I am trying to live by.............

I can only change myself - I CANNOT make others change so I don't try.  (I used to try!!!!!!!)

I try to avoid things or situations that make me uncomfortable. I only have one life to live - I want that life to be as happy as it can be. ( I need to be more VOCAL about this one)

I try to avoid negative situations - if I can remove the negative factors from my life - I try to make that happen. Again - I only have one life and I don't want it filled with negativity.  (Negativity just sucks the life out of me! - Hey I don't mind to hear life's issues - that is part of our women's therapy - just don't dwell on the doom and gloom - thank you!)

I try to be patient. And for the most part I am - but I need to be more patient at home!

I try to respect others. Doesn't always happen, but I try very hard to make sure everyone is included. And I don't do this because I have to, but because EVERYONE has a story and I want to know what it is. Everyone has something interesting - you sometimes have to dig for it since we are not all as outspoken as others are.

I try not to worry about things that I cannot change. If I have NO INFLUENCE over the outcome, then worrying isn't going to make it better. It will just make me sick and I don't want to ruin my one life by that.

I try to keep my life organized. On that one - I think I am doing a good job!    Now to action those scheduled items!!!!!!!

I try to LISTEN to others.  It is amazing what you can learn by asking questions and LISTENING to the answers. And it is amazing how good you can make people feel when you REALLY LISTEN to them. Don't just play lip service!!!

I try to MOVE!!!!!!!!!     If I don't get to the gym, or my walk - my body literally seizes up. I haven't been in a couple of days and I am stiff and sore. I hurt all over. The only way to fix that - get out and MOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do NOT have resolutions - only goals. Measurable goals.

I love change (BUT I also love routine) so I love change just enough to keep things interesting - I don't like big changes.

Anyway - I am not perfect (despite what I sometimes think!!!), but I am HAPPY. So happy sometimes that I think that it is not fair that I should be so happy and others are not. But then I remember that it is only MYSELF that is in charge of my happiness so then I don't feel guilty.

I am just so happy that I am getting the opportunities that I have and I don't want to blow them. I don't want to live with any regrets   (OK - so I may regret that I did't have the guts to bungy jump - but I can live with that regret. My brain just WILL NOT let my body do something that stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway - I wish each and everyone of my readers a very Happy New Year.

On that note - I am off to walk in the 5K Commitment Day Run/Walk at Lifetime!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a GREAT day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ciao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Thank you for all those "hefty" blogs all year long.
I love your goals. Can you try to add one more? That is,
to sit still for a while?
