It was a whirlwind day yesterday to say the least. The landscapers are here to fix the pond and I was supposed to fill the pond to a certain level. BUT the deadline for handing in quilts loomed so I waited until the last minute and shut the water off (turned out it was the perfect level!!!). Then zipped off to the arena to offload my quilts and Mary's quilts.
Linda was sitting at the registration table and I decided that I needed to get the eyes on my last quilt.
Here I am stitching TEN eyes on the quilt and the label. |
I am VERY HAPPY to report that I got EVERYTHING DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! All the sleeves, all the labels - everything. Don't even ask me how that happened. But it got done!!!!!!!!!!!
Then I walked into the arena to see how the show hanging was progressing. To my dismay, they had not started hanging the large quilts, so I spent the next FIVE hours up and down a ladder.
Me on a ladder. I hate heights - but after the first time up and down - well NO TIME to be afraid. And I was quite comfortable up there by the end of the day. Oh my - what quilt is behind me??????? |
Let's just say that the show is MAGNIFICENT. There are some MIND BLOWING quilts - some humorous, group projects - vendors, members boutique where I found a couple of treasures which I will show you another day.
If you can - you MUST come. BRING YOUR CAMERA. I am going early to deal with a couple of quilts and to take pictures.
I keep telling my students that when they go to the shows - take pictures to start an inspiration book. Get ideas for borders, get ideas for quilting, get ideas for colours. And since I haven't really done that (I have, but not enough), I plan to look at the show (and will go through my thousands of photos) and group them into categories, eliminate those I don't want, or are duplicate and get that book together!!!!!!!!!!
Oh yes - if you come to the show - it is in an ARENA and YES - it is COOL. DRESS IN LAYERS.
Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ciao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't forget - the show is open today and tomorrow at Burnhamthorpe Community Center. (Dixie and Burnhamthorpe area)
Hi Elaine,
ReplyDeleteI just got home from the MQG show, and it is truly spectacular. I did take a lot of photos, to help me remember what I saw. I heard you speak about your group Nemo quilt. What a delightful afternoon.
