Quilt Retreat - Day Two

Quilt retreats make me very happy!  It's simply amazing to get up in the morning and start sewing and not have to do anything for the rest of the day!

Well, that's not quite true as it was my day to make lunch for everyone. Remember my squash soup from a while back. It went over very well at lunch and all the main work was done at home. I did have to pop out to get the ingredients for our yummy veggie wraps, but again those are very easy to make.  Stir fry up some veggies like zucchini, asparagus, mushrooms and peppers. Put some hummus on a wrap, add the veggies and a super quick sandwich.

After lunch, it was back to the sewing machine.  I was on a mission.  I really really wanted to get that Vintage Moments completed.  At least all the homework that had already been assigned. And I power sewed through that quilt. The end result??

Vintage Moments
Let's see - at the start of the day, only the center part was together up to the striped border with the curvy edge. I started by cutting that sawtooth border and the new pieces fit on there perfectly.  All the stars were made and the fans, but everything else had to be cut and sewn together. I NEVER come to a retreat with so little prepared, but early in the morning, there is no one around, so I hustled with the cutting and it was late - almost 11 PM last night when the last seam was sewn.

There are two more borders, one with half square triangles which are made and I'm using them as enders and leaders today.  One more unpieced border to add, but that will happen at home when I have more room.

What was my motivation?  That darn Ronda!  It's all her fault. Ronda is in the Vintage Moments class. Every time we come to the retreat, Ronda works on her Vintage Moments. It was because of her that I got all those eight pointed stars done last time.  BORING!!!!  So the race was on yesterday. However, Ronda was ahead of me at the start of the day, I think her stuff was cut out and I'm not sure how well her quilt got pressed.  BUT - here is Ronda's quilt.

I vowed to the class that I would bring a finished quilt top to the final class in December. I have ONE month to get those last two borders on, but I still have a couple of quilts at home that are missing borders.

Claudette is working on her Vintage Moments and hopefully will be done by tonight.

And that pretty much sums up my day yesterday.  Oh, while we were sitting around after lunch, I managed to almost finish the snipping of the rag quilt.  I still have three sides of the outside left to do - that's for today after lunch.

I'm already onto a new project that I cut out this morning and madly sewing.  Not sure if I can get it done today, but going to give it a shot.  And then TOMORROW, I must work on the urgent projects!!!!

Have a super day!!!

Ciao!!!
